Handball World Championship Men 2019

The Copenhagen Arena is a under construction multi-purpose hall located in the district of Ørestad Syd Kopenhagenerer.

Formation

In spring 2010, the City of Copenhagen and Realdania examined the implementation of a multi-purpose hall in Ørestad Syd, as there is with the Brøndby halls and the Ballerup Super Arena two warehouses in Denmark, which are considered not large enough for international competitions. To stay wenttbewerbsfähig in international competitions against cities such as London and Berlin, a hall with the required size should be implemented, with the one applied for the Hockey World Cup 2017, as well as the Men's Handball World Championship Men 2019. For the Men's Handball World Championship is not won the bid for the World Ice Hockey Championships.

The realization of a new multi-purpose hall in Copenhagen, was posted on September 23, 2011 at a press conference at the Bella Sky Hotel. Owner of the hall is the arena CPHX P / S, which was founded by the city of Copenhagen, and Realdania. In February 2012 it was announced that Live Nation was able to put in competition against AEG Facilities as operator of the hall.

The design of the new building was unveiled on June 7, 2012. The jointly developed design is by the architecture firm 3XN, HKS, Inc., Arup, ME Engineers and landscape architect Planit.

Construction and laying of the cornerstone took place on 2 July 2013.

Financing

The construction costs are largely borne by the city of Copenhagen, and Realdania to each 325 million DKK. Other costs to take over the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark, as well as the Elite Facility Committee.
