Musical Style

Compared to Vreid the legacy of Windir Cor Scorpii is much more pronounced, even if none of the band members was involved in the songwriting of Windir. Nevertheless, there are significant differences. The characteristic of Windir folk influences were replaced by classic, a stylistic innovation over Windir is the use of a classical piano. As significant influences Gaute Refsnes calls bands like Emperor, Limbonic Art, Death, Obtained Enslavement, Satyricon and Burzum, and composers such as Sergei Prokofiev, Edvard Grieg, Sergei Rachmaninov and Erik Satie. In their texts, the volume deals with the darker side of the human soul. Refsnes cites as examples for their themes of revenge, hatred, death and the demise of the world, but his lyrics does not explain in detail. It is important that the texts of the atmosphere of the song corresponds; why are some texts in Norwegian and others in English.
