Core fonts for the Web

Core fonts for the Web was a project from Microsoft that was launched in 1996. The goal of this project was to standardize on a set of fonts for use on the Internet. The project was terminated in August 2002.

The fonts were provided for both Windows and Mac operating systems for free download. Since the license of the fonts allowed the disclosure of the scriptures in their original form, the writings are widely used even after the termination of the project and any of these popular Linux users who want a Windows -like typeface.

The subject of a standardized collection of fonts was applied by Microsoft ClearType Font Collection 2007.
