Corgoloin

Corgoloin is a commune with 922 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Côte-d'Or department in Burgundy ( Bourgogne ).

Geography

Corgoloin is the southernmost municipality of the Côte de Nuits. It is located 9 kilometers north-east of Beaune and 2 kilometers southwest of Comblanchien, between the Autoroute 31 (A31 ) and the Route nationale 74 ( N74 ). To Corgoloin include the hamlet Cussigny, Moux and La Chaume.

History

The area around Corgoloin was inhabited in Gallo-Roman times. 1820 were found in excavations Gallo- Roman artifacts.

Culture and sights

The Cussigny castle dates from the first half of the 18th century. It is in the additional directory ( inventaire supplémentaire) of Monuments historiques registered ( inscrit MH). The castle also has a park and a garden.

The church of Saint -Pierre dates from the 13th century and is also entered in the Additional List of Monuments historiques.

The Manor House Manoir de Moux dates from the second half of the 15th century and is inscrit MH. It is privately owned.

The Château de la Chaume castle dates from the 18th century and is privately owned.

Economy

Corgoloin part of the Côte de Nuits, where the wine Appellation Côtes de Nuits -Villages is produced. 2011, the Festival of Saint- Vincent tournante took place here. Major lines of business of Corgolinois are, next to the viticulture, aquaculture and agriculture.
