Corioli

Corioli was a Volscian city in Latium adiectum.

According to the Roman historiography Corioli was taken 493 BC along with longula and Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus Pollusca of the Roman Empire and shortly after Gnaeus Marcius had defected in the dispute over the introduction of the Volkstribunates in Rome for the enemy, by the same commander for the Volscians retaken.

The place is 443 BC mentioned a little later, in a dispute between Ardea and Aricia to a piece of land that had been one of Corioli but along with this - had gone back to Rome - at an unknown date.

Corioli apparently lay in the northwest Lazio adiectums between the coast, the Astura and the Alban Hills. The place was at Monte Giove, south of the Ariccia valley, suspects, but the situation remains unknown. Already Pliny the Elder was one Corioli to the submerged cities of Latium.
