Cornelius Amory Pugsley

Cornelius Amory Pugsley ( born July 17, 1850 in Peekskill, New York, † September 10, 1936 ) was an American politician. Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Cornelius Amory Pugsley was born about two years after the end of the Mexican - American War in Peekskill in Westchester County and grew up there. During this time he attended public schools and erlang by a private tutor a high school education. Between 1867 and 1870 he worked as a clerk and assistant postmaster. He went in 1870 after banking transactions and was president of the Board of Trustees at the Peekskill Military Academy.

Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1900, for the 57th Congress Pugsley was in the 16th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Q. Underhill on March 4, 1901. In 1902 he suffered in his re-election bid a defeat and retired after March 3, 1903 from the Congress of.

After his conference time he walked in Peekskill after banking transactions. He was in the years 1906 and 1907, President General of the Sons of the American Revolution. In 1908 he participated as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. He was 1913 president of the New York State Bankers' Association and President of the Westchester County National Bank in Peekskill. Then he sat in the Westchester County Park Commission. On September 10, 1936, he died in Peekskill. His body was then buried in Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel.
