Cornelius van Oyen

Cornelius van Oyen Maria ( born November 28, 1886 in Brandenburg an der Havel, † January 19, 1954 in Berlin) was a German sports shooter and Olympic champion with the rapid-fire gun.

Cornelius van Oyen was the son of an immigrant from the Netherlands accountant. He was inspector at the Berlin Bötzow Brewery, his training level was housed in a cellar of the brewery.

At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, he won with 36 rings, the gold medal in front of the German officer Heinz Hax and Sweden Torsten Ullman. 1937 and 1939 Cornelius van Oyen received each with the German team the bronze medal at the World Championships. In 1939 he won also the silver medal behind Ullman in the individual standings.
