Coronation Mass (Mozart)

The Coronation Mass in C major, K. 317 is a show of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The name Coronation Mass is evidenced in writing until the year 1873. Most likely, the trade fair for the Easter service in 1779 at the Salzburg Cathedral, which fell on April 4, composed, Mozart, dated March 23, 1779. Immediately after Mozart's death, the Mass, K. 317 was the preferred composition for church services at Kaiser and coronations and in gratitude worship. For the first time they may have been used in the coronation of Emperor Franz II. The name probably originally kapellinterne Coronation Mass is, starting from the Imperial Chapel, soon become commonplace. The fact that the Mozart of the pilgrimage church of Maria Plain were associated with deep piety, led 1907 Mozart enthusiasts Johann Evangelist Engl to the unprovable statement, the Coronation Mass would be for the annual Mary Plainer - coronation festival, which in 1779 on June 27 began, were composed - a most enduring legend.
