Corpus Speculorum Etruscorum

The corpus is a Speculorum Etruscorum since 1973 ongoing international research project, which has set itself the goal to publish all thanked Etruscan bronze mirror.

Coordinator is the International Scientific Committee for the Corpus of Etruscan Mirrors. Constituted the International Committee has been at a convention, the Istituto Nazionale di Studi Etruschi ed Italici organized under the leadership of its president Massimo Pallottino and attended by scientists from 19 countries. The Corpus replaced in contemporary form and to modern knowledge, the 1843 to 1897 by Eduard Gerhard, after his death in 1867 by Adolf Klügmann and Gustav Körte further edited and published in five volumes collection of Etruscan mirrors.

The volumes are aligned with the organizational format of the Corpus vasorum Antiquorum appear sorted by country, within countries according to individual museums or collections, which can be divided into fascicles turn. The first volumes appeared in 1981, and since then 30 volumes have been published. The corpus published not only the decorated, but also undecorated mirror, handling, storage boxes. Photographs and drawings at a scale of 1:1 complement the scientific descriptions and analyzes.
