Cortina (Tango)

A Cortina (Spanish: Curtain ) is a briefly spieltes piece of music. It is used to milongas, the dancing of Tango Argentino as a demarcation between two Tandas. Then often also changes the music style of a tango block to a milonga or Valsblock.

The duration of a Cortina is between about 5 to 60 seconds; is a common time in the range of 20 seconds. As a Cortina represents a break, it is usually played a bit quieter than the Tandas.
