Corumbá River

The Rio Corumbá in the Brazilian state of Goiás is a right tributary of the Rio Paranaíba and drains into the Paraná Basin.

The Rio Corumbá rises in the Pireneus northeast of Pirenópolis, near the border between Pirenópolis and Cocalzinho de Goiás at 1200 m altitude. He holds his easterly course to Cocalzinho de Goiás, where he veers south, parallel to the highway BR -414 to Corumba de Goiás.

In his more southern course it reaches the reservoir Corumba IV and on the border with Abadiânia he changes the direction of flow to southeast and is the southern border river of the municipalities of Corumbá de Goiás, and Santo Antônio do Alexania Descoberto. On the right bank are the communities Abadiânia, SILVANIA and Luziânia. This section coming open as the left, from the north, the rivers Riberão Congonhas, Riberão das Galinhas, Areias Rio, Rio Descoberto, Rio Alagado as well as a right tributary of the Rio das Antas.

After the dam west-southwest of the city Luziânia he crosses the municipal area with a south-southeast direction of flow. On the border with Cristalina flows from the north as the largest tributary of the Rio São Bartolomeu. The latter drained together with the Rio Descoberto most of the Distrito Federal. Then it changes its flow direction to the southwest, which he retains from now up to its confluence with the Rio Paranaíba, VOREST as a border river between Orizona and Ipameri, then between Pires do Rio and Urutaí. Near the southern end of Pires do Rio, and northeast of Caldas Novas it flows into the Corumbá Reservoir with the community Ipameri in the east. Shortly after the dam, it flows into the Itumbiara Reservoir, which forms the border between East and Corumbaíba in Caldas Novas, Marzagão, Água Limpa, Buriti Alegre in the West.
