Cosmina Stratan
Cosmina Stratan ( born October 20, 1984 in Iasi, Moldova ) is a Romanian journalist and actress. Notoriety she gained through her feature film debut in the award- winning drama Beyond the Hill (2012 ).
Biography
Cosmina Stratan grew up with a sister in Iasi. The daughter of a doctor attended the prestigious school " Costache Negruzzi " and the University Alexandru Ioan in her hometown, where she studied journalism and communication science until 2009. Stratan worked beside at the weekly student newspaper Opinia Studenţească and the local television station TVR Iasi. After completing her studies, she moved to Bucharest and worked as a journalist for Antena 3. In the Romanian TV station Stratan was " special reporter " as a reporter for the format of Vlad Petreanu to see. Her work brought Stratan a number of awards.
From autumn 2008 Stratan moved to acting and graduated from a corresponding study at the National University of Theatre and Film Arts " IL Caragiale " ( UNATC ) in Bucharest. During their training, Stratan took leading roles in short films.
After her studies in acting Stratan was in 2012 her feature film debut in Cristian Mungiu's Beyond the hill, who had also formerly worked for the Opinia Studenţească. In the drama she is seen as a young novice in a small, remote Romanian monastery, which is forced out of the children's home to days of her childhood friend (played by Cristina Flutur ) to live with her in Germany. Here, the confused girlfriend must resist against the priesthood and soon the obsession suspected.
The film received in 2012 an invitation to compete in the 65th International Film Festival of Cannes, where Stratan and Flutur were awarded the Best Actor Award of the film festival. For her portraits of Voichita and Alina the jury had given to the Italian actor and director Nanni Moretti to untried in the cinema actresses in preference to such well-known actresses such as Nicole Kidman ( The Paperboy ) or Marion Cotillard ( The taste of rust and bones). Stratan and Flutur are the first Romanian actresses who could triumph in Cannes.
