Costantino Patrizi Naro
Costantino Patrizi Naro ( born September 4, 1798 in Siena, † December 17, 1876 in Rome ) was an Italian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.
Life
Costantino Patrizi Naro studied at the Collegio dei Protonotari in Rome, which he left as a Doctor of Laws. On 16 June 1819 he was ordained a priest. He worked as a judge of the Roman Rota.
Leo XII. appointed him on 15 December 1828 Titular Archbishop of Philippi. The auditor of the Roman Rota for Austria Carlo Odescalchi, SJ consecrated him on 21 December of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Lorenzo Girolamo Mattei, Latin Patriarch of Antioch, and Paul Augustus Foscolo, Archbishop of Corfu. Patrizi Naro represented since January 16, 1829 Nuncio the interests of the Holy See in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. On June 23, 1834 the same pope took him a cardinal in pectore in the College of Cardinals to. On July 11, 1836 his collection was made public by the appointment of a Cardinal Priest of San Silvestro in Capite. He served as Prefect of 6 July 1839 to 22 December 1841 the Congregation for Bishops. 1841 Cardinal Patrizi was the pope's vicar for the Diocese of Rome and held that office until his death in 1876. From 1845 to 1867 he was also archpriest of the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. He participated in the conclave of 1846, Pius IX the. chose. The same elevated him on 20 April 1849, Cardinal Bishop of the Diocese of Albano suburbicarian ordered. 1854-1860 led Patrizi Naro as Prefect of the Congregation of Rites. From October 10, 1860 until his death he served as secretary of the Congregation of the Roman and general inquisition. He was from 1867 to 1876 Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of Saint John Lateran. With his appointment as Cardinal Bishop of Ostia on 8 October 1870, he was a cardinal dean primus inter pares of the College of Cardinals.
Costantino Patrizi Naro was Honour and Devotion Grand Cross - Bailli of the Sovereign Order of Malta and 1860-1876 Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Rome, the Order of Malta.
He died on 17 December 1876 at the age of 78 in Rome.
