Coupe des Mousquetaires

La Coupe des Mousquetaires is the winner's trophy, which is awarded to the winner in the men's singles at the French Open. The current design of the trophy, created in 1981, when the then President of the Fédération Française de Tennis, Philippe Chatrier, jewelers of Paris commissioned to make it new. It is the victory of the four famous French tennis player symbolize, also known as the Four Musketeers: Jacques Brugnon, Jean Borotra, Henri Cochet and Rene Lacoste.

The design for the one decided finally came from the family-run jewelery business Mellerio. The trophy has an extensive tree- vine leaves opening set in two swan shaped handles. It is kept in the President of the Fédération Française de Tennis office and only once a year removed from there when the winner will be announced in the men's singles of the French Open. The winner can not keep the real trophy, however; every year a replica is made. This is slightly smaller than the original and is made from handmade silver in about 100 hours. The original weighs 14 kg, is 21 cm high and 19 cm wide. The counterpart to the Coupe des Mousquetaires for the winner in the women's singles is the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen.
