Couville
Couville is a commune of 1,000 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region. The inhabitants are called Couvillais.
Geography
Couville is on the Cotentin peninsula, in the Armorican massif, around ten kilometers south-west of Cherbourg. The municipality borders on:

- Saint- Christophe- du- Foc
- Saint -Martin- le- Gréard
- Bricquebosq
- Breuville
Couville is crossed by the railway line Paris - Cherbourg, a train station no longer exists, however. The next stops are Cherbourg (actually the last stop) in the north, and Valognes in the south.
Toponymy
Couville consists of Koli and -ville. Koli is a Scandinavian name, while a French -ville suffix of Latin origin, which often occurs in Normandy ( ville means city ) is.
