Covasna

Covasna ( German Covasna, Covasna Hungarian ) is a town of about 10,000 inhabitants in Romania Covasna county.

Although Covasna is the namesake of the county with the same, it is not the county 's capital is Sfântu Gheorghe.

Geographical location

Covasna is located quite high (500 m) and is part of the Székely Land ( Székely ), a region of Transylvania, which is mainly inhabited by Hungarians and is still heavily influenced by the former rule of the Habsburg monarchy. The frontier Austria -Hungary was only a few kilometers east of Covasna.

Population

For population mainly include Hungary ( 60%), Romania ( 35%) and Roma ( 5%).

Economy
