Cox's Bazar

Cox 's Bazar ( Bengali: কক্সবাজার, Kaksabājār ) is a city in Bangladesh with more than 61,000 inhabitants. It is located about 150 km south of the port city of Chittagong on the Bay of Bengal and is the administrative seat of the district of Cox 's Bazar.

With its nearby 120 km -long sandy beach is a popular destination of foreign and domestic tourists and thus the largest seaside resort in Bangladesh. Cox 's Bazar is also known for its fishing.

The city was named after a British officer, who worked for the East India Company, named; Lieutenant Cox died in 1798 in the place.

There are ferry connections with the southern St. Martin's Iceland and there is an airport, offered by the flights in the capital Dhaka.
