Cracker (food)

Cracker ( Germanized spelling crackers ) are a thin, crisp, very dry biscuit -like savory biscuits, which originally developed from hardtack and hard biscuits.

Crackers have a spicy taste normally and are often salted. Some varieties contain cheese or spices as other ingredients. Crackers are finger food and are either occupied ( canapés ) or like potato chips consumed neat or with a dipping sauce. As pretzel sticks are often eaten as a small side dish to wine, beer, cheese and the like crackers.
