Craig Russell (British author)

Craig Russell ( born 1956 in County Fife, Scotland) is a Scottish writer who is mainly known for his thriller - mystery novels.

Life

Craig Russell was active prior to his work as a writer as a policeman, copywriters and creative director.

2005 Russell published his first detective novel blood eagle, in which the protagonist is a hamburger detective chief named January fable. The series of the fable novels emerged since Russell in his own words for a long time harbors an interest in the German language, culture and people. He is fluent in German and has traveled extensively through North Germany.

After blood eagle appeared by 2010 four more mythical novels in English - published by Hutchinson ( Random House ) - and in German translation at Ehrenwirth ( Luebbe ). The series was made into audio books, in the German version read by David Nathan. On October 30, 2010 in ARD, the first broadcast of the Mystery Wolf track on the eponymous mythical second novel instead. Two other films for ARD also produced the Hessian production company Tivoli movie.

After the completion of the fable series of novels Russell turned to the underworld of Glasgow in the 1950s in which the published since 2009 Lennox novels are based.

Russell lives with his wife and two children in Perthshire. His hobbies include painting, cooking and travel.

Awards

In 2007, Russell was nominated for the Golden Dagger Award of the British Crime Writers' Association ( CWA ), the largest award for authors of detective novels. Also in 2007, Russell was nominated for the French Prix Polar Krimipreis SNCF. In 2008 he won the Dagger in the Library of the CWA, with which the most borrowed in public libraries living crime writer is excellent.

Films

Two novels Ján fable thriller series were filmed for German television, Wolf track (directed by Urs Egger, Original Air Date October 30, 2010 ) and blood eagle (director Nils Willbrandt, Original Air Date November 3, 2012 ). The role of the detective chief Ján fable was played by Peter Lohmeyer. Both films were adapted by screenwriter Daniel Martin Eckhart.
