Crail

Crail is a small town (1780 inhabitants - 2004 estimate ) on the Scottish peninsula of Fife. The former royal castle was built in the 12th century. But Crail operation already in the 9th century brisk trade with the continent. Originally the place was living from fishing. Although you can still buy fish at the picturesque small harbor today, Crail is mainly a tourist attraction today.

The featured St.Mary ' s Church was also built in the 12th century, a market cross in the 17th century.

On the beach next to the harbor you will find petrified trees from the Carboniferous.
