Cranzahl Dam

The dam is a dam Cranzahl in the Free State of Saxony. It was built in 1949-1952 at Sehmatal- Cranzahl and bears stone in the Ore Mountains to the drinking water supply of Annaberg -Buchholz and environment. She was next to the dam Sosa one of the two major dams construction projects of the young GDR. According to the time it received the name " reservoir of friendship".

The dam of the dam is a bent in plan Erdschüttdamm with inclined inner seal out of clay. It is a large dam on the ICOLD criterion. The dammed waters of Lampert Bach and the Bach Moritz.

About the dam leads a walk- way (500 meters). Swimming, recreational sports, etc. in the reservoir are not allowed. Instead, however, offers the opportunity to take advantage of the trail ( 3.5 km ): Hiking, mountain biking, skiing.
