Erzgebirge is since 1 August 2008, a district in the Saxon Erzgebirge. The county seat of Erzgebirgskreises is Annaberg -Buchholz. He is the most populous district in Saxony.

The district encompasses nearly the entire Saxon Western and Central Ore Mountains, on the ridge region on the German - Czech border up to the transition to Erzgebirgsbecken between the cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau.

As county seat Annaberg -Buchholz was confirmed on 23 January 2008. The main roads in the Erzgebirge District are the main roads.
