Creiddylad

Creiddylad [ krei'ðɘlad ] is in Celtic mythology of Wales, the daughter of Lludd Llawereint.

Culhwch ac Olwen In the story ( " The story of Culhwch and Olwen ") in the Mabinogion is Creiddylad indeed engaged to Gwythyr fab Greidiawl, but shortly before the wedding, she is kidnapped by Gwynn fab Nudd. The dispute settles King Arthur, by determining that the two rivals would unsubscribe from now until doomsday, respectively on 1 May ( Beltaine ) a duel. The final winner at the end of time, then get Creiddylad wife.

Creiddylad is considered a model for Cordelia in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae and thus also in William Shakespeare's King Lear. However, the plot is different from the Welsh legend in both cases.
