Crestview is a city and also the county seat of Okaloosa County in the U.S. state of Florida with 20 978 inhabitants ( 2010).
Geography
Crestview is located about 70 km northeast of Pensacola.
Demographics
According to the 2010 census, the then 20 978 inhabitants distributed to 9,153 households. The population density was 633.8 inh. / Km ². 71.4 % of the population were white, 18.6% African American, 0.5% Native American and 3.1% Asian Americans. 2.0% were members of other ethnic groups and 4.4% of different ethnicities. 6.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 17.2 % of all households lived in 41.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 71.1 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.64 persons and the average family size is 3.12 people.
30.7 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 31.3 % were 20-39 years old, 25.1% were 40-59 years old and 13.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 32 years. 48.9 % of the population were male and 51.1 % female.
The average annual income was $ 48,750, while 19.4 % of the population lived below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 93.70 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.98% and 3.32% had a different mother tongue.
Traffic
Crestview is from Interstate 10, U.S. Highway 90 (SR 10) and the Florida State Road 85 crosses. The nearest airport is the Pensacola International Airport ( about 70 km).
By 2005, the Crestview station was a station of the Sunset Limited train Amtrak from Orlando to Los Angeles. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the line was, however, on the route New Orleans - shortened Los Angeles. The only rail transport has since consisted of their transports are carried out by the railway company CSX Transportation.
