Cricetulodon

Cricetulodon is an extinct genus of mice -like. It is known from the Upper Miocene of France and Spain, and has probably evolved to Rotundomys.

Body characteristics

Cricetulodon has in each jaw half three rudimentary hochkronige molars. The Anterolophid of the first mandibular molar tooth is mostly lip- sided. Mesoloph and Mesolophid all teeth and the Anterosinusid of the second mandibular molar and the posterior tongue- hand corner of the third mandibular molar tooth are reduced tendency.

The first maxillary tooth is almond-shaped, with an almost straight -sided lip and a highly curved tongue-side edge. The most tongue side closest point is located behind the Protocon. The lip side Anterolophulsporn usually absent, rarely it is short. The third maxillary tooth is round, just as long as wide or shorter than wide.

Distribution and phylogeny

Cricetulodon is known from the Vallesium and Turolium France and Spain before 11.6 to 7.0 million years ago. It could be a locally formed line of development of small to medium-sized hamster, which is derived from the early Democricetodon Vallesiums and has evolved to Rotundomys.

System

Cricetulodon

McKenna and Bell ( 1997) to arrange Cricetulodon as a synonym of the genus Rotundomys, Freudenthal and colleagues ( 1998) as a distinct genus the Cricetinae. Five types are distinguished:

  • Cricetulodon bugesiensis Freudenthal et al, 1998 -. Late Vallesium
  • Cricetulodon hartenbergeri ( Freudenthal, 1967) - Vallesium
  • Cricetulodon lucentensis ( Freudenthal et al, 1991. ) - Medium Turolium
  • Cricetulodon Meini ( Agustí, 1986)
  • Cricetulodon sabadellensis Freudenthal et al., 1998

Cricetulodon bugesiensis and Cricetulodon sabadellensis are approximately equal, Cricetulodon hartenbergeri is smaller. Jean -Louis Hartberger introduces the genus Cricetulodon 1966. The type species is Cricetulodon sabadellensis.

Cricetulodon Meini

The type specimen of Cricetulodon Meini with the inventory number IPMC FCA -237 is the first molar tooth of the right mandible half. Named after Pierre Jordi Agustí My describes this 1986 Kowalskia Meini. Freudenthal and colleagues ( 1998) arrange the species of the genus Cricetulodon to.

Cricetulodon sabadellensis

The type specimen of Cricetulodon sabadellensis with the inventory number IPMC CL 1392 is a maxilla with the first and second molar tooth of the right half of the jaw. Named after the city of Sabadell in the province of Barcelona describe Matthijs Freudenthal, Pierre Elvira Martín - Suárez mine and this 1998.
