Cricket diplomacy

The term cricket diplomacy (English cricket diplomacy ) denotes the determination after the turn of the millennium tentative approximation of feuding neighbors India and Pakistan. The goal is a particular approach to the Kashmir issue.

In April 2005, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf attended a cricket match in India and met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The term is derived from the sport which is the national sport in both countries. During state visits often cricket matches were held. The common love is here (analogous to the ping-pong diplomacy ) is used to relax the atmosphere between the parties, thus easier to come to an understanding.
