Cricket in Austria

Cricket is more of a niche sport in Austria. However, it is observed in the last few years, an upward trend in terms of the recognition and popularity of the sport. History

The first documented cricket matches in Vienna took place in the 1890s. During the occupation of Austria after the Second World War, Cricket was mainly played by Allied soldiers. As an amateur sport Cricket in Austria has, as in the rest of continental Europe, can not be established. Austrian Cricket Association

The Austrian Cricket Association ( Engl: Austrian Cricket Association ) is the national governing body of cricket sport in Austria. It was founded in 1981 by Kerry Tattersall ( Marketing Director of the coin Austria ), an Australian living in Vienna as Austrian Cricketers Association.

The Association is responsible for the hosting of the National League, the ACA Open League. The matches of the Open League will be played as a 50 -over matches, so as One Day Internationals. ACA Open League

The ACA Open League is a single innings 50 -over cricket league in Austria. In 2006 it was divided into two parallel Conferences that allow Austrian Conference and the National Conference to more teams participating. The first three teams each Conference qualify for the Super Sixes. The best two teams from the Super Sixes then played the final against each other. Teams that do not qualify for the Super Sixes could, played in local consolation prize tournaments, the so-called plate competitions continues: Viennese Plate ( for the Viennese clubs) and Southern Plate ( for all others).

ACA Trophy

The ACA Trophy was a knock-out tournament with a 40 -over matches. This was replaced in 2008 by the ACA Twenty20 Tournament. ACA Twenty20 Tournament

Austrian National Cricket Team
