Features

Cartwrightianus Crocus is a perennial tuber Geophyt, achieved the stature heights of between 4 to 10 inches. The leaves are usually ciliate. The Knoll shell is made of fine mesh fibers. The throat is white and fluffy at the insertion of the stamens. The flowers are purple to purple colored with darker veining or white with sometimes a purple background. Outside they are the same color. The style branches are red and long. Anthers and pollen yellow.

The flowering period extends from October to December.

Occurrence

Crocus cartwrightianus occurs in the area of ​​the Aegean Sea. In Crete, the species grows in open Phrygana, lawn and pine forests at altitudes of 30 to 120 meters.
