Crónica Mexicayotl

The Crónica Mexicayotl is a Worded in Aztec language works, the parts of Indian authors come from different authors. The work gives a historical overview of the Mexica or Aztecs of their exodus from the mythical Aztlan place until the time of the Spanish conquest.

Content and Author

The parts of the plant can be at least three authors assign:

  • The first part, written by Alsonso Franco, told from the migration of the Mexica from Aztlan.
  • The second part, the author Hernando de Alvarado Tezozomoc is, describes the course of the migration and settlement in Tenochtitlán.
  • Three third part is a very in-depth historical and genealogical representation with particular attention to the Aztec dynasty. Its author is not precisely determined.
  • Domingo Franscisco Chimalpahin Quauhtlehuanitzin is responsible for two slots.

Manuscript history

  • The work is preserved in the manuscript Chimalpahins. In the composite of a three-volume manuscript collection the Crónica Mexicayotl includes the folios 18 to 63 The manuscript came into the hands of the Mexican researcher Carlos Siguenza y Góngora ( 1645-1700 ), from there to the Jesuit college of San Gregorio in Mexico City. The way the manuscript collection to their final place of storage, the British and Foreign Bible Society, which structure is located in the University of Cambridge, is not known.
  • From this version has been drafted by Lorenzo Boturini Benaducci (1698-1755), a copy of which is lost.
  • This copy was used for the submission of a further, which finally came nationale de France with numerous other Mexican manuscripts in the Bibliothèque today. From her photo images were taken in the Mexican order, which served as the basis of the first Spanish translation.
