Crosses of Naval Merit (Spain)

The Order of Merit to the Sea ( Spanish: Orden del Mérito Naval) was founded on August 3, 1866 to the reward of the work done by or for the fleet service of Queen Isabella II of Spain in four classes:

  • Class IV ( Grand Cross ) - a special occasion; connected so that the predicate was Excellency
  • III. Class - to the rank General
  • Class II - up to the rank Colonel
  • First Class - up to the rank Captain

Today the Order consists of only two classes ( Grand Cross and Cross) and will be awarded in four stages analogous to the Military Merit.

The religious character is a geradarmiges, winning by the Spanish royal crown goldgerändertes, red (military merits) or white cross ( civil services ). The lower arm of the cross is longer. On the cross a golden anchor is attached.

Worn the award is given to a red- yellow-red band. Großkreuzler carry the award to the sash from the left shoulder to right hip as well as with a breast star.
