Csaba Deseo

Csaba Deseo (* February 15, 1939 in Budapest) is a Hungarian violinist, violist and jazz violinist.

Life

Csaba Deseo was born in Budapest, his mother was a violin teacher. Age of ten he started playing the violin, his studies, he continued at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in 1961 and completed with a diploma. First, he was a music teacher. In 1967 he was member of the Hungarian Nationalhilharmonie and remained so until 1999. During the General Music Director Janos and Ken - Ichiro Kobayashi Ferencsik he played in the orchestra's concerts in Hungary and in countless countries from Japan to the United States. Some names of the great personalities with whom Deseo has worked: Antal Doráti, Sir George Szolti, Leonard Bernstein, Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Lamberto Gardelli, Giuseppe Patane, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Adam Fischer, Yehudi Menuhin, David Oistrakh, Sviatoslav Richter, Mstislav Rostropovich.

DESEOS jazz career began in 1963 at the legendary Dalia Club in Budapest. Here he introduced himself with his first combo. Since 1964, the quartet performed regularly in concerts, but also in the Hungarian radio and television. Abroad, from 1966 Deseo could establish by the appearance at the then Yugoslav Bled Jazz Festival. In the same year he performed with his quartet at the Prague International Jazz Festival and with the guitarist Andor Kovács at the Warsaw Jazz Jamboree. Csaba DESEOS own first LP was released in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1975 with the then Europe's leading jazz label MPS. On the LP " Four String Tschaba " he played the violin and viola, the players were the absolute elite at the German jazz scene, German, English and Swedish musicians. Most titles penned by Dieter Reith, who was also active as a pianist and arranger. Csaba Deseo has made in recent years, four LPs, 6 CDs with Hungarian and foreign musicians. In 1975, he became acquainted with the vibraphonist Bosko Petrovic know from Zagreb, with whom he performs regularly since then. Since the 70s he also plays frequently with Walter Kurowskis formations in Germany, mainly in the Ruhr. Since 1980 Deseo has worked with various formations. In recent years, he mainly plays with young musicians from Budapest, especially with the trio of guitarist István Gyárfás, as well as with pianist Gábor Cseke. As a guest soloist, he has completed numerous concert performances with the Benko Dixieland Band and the Budapest Ragtime Band. Over time, he has also worked with international stars of the jazz world, including Jean -Luc Ponty, John Lewis, Jiggs Whigham, Martin Drew, Dusko Goykovich, Tony Lakatos, Gábor Szabó, Tommy Vig and Aladar Aladar, played together.

Deseo is an employee of the Hungarian journal Gramofon.
