Csaba Földes

Csaba Foldes ( born June 8, 1958 in Almasch / Bácsalmás, Hungary ) is a German scholar with the main focus Contemporary German language and German as a foreign language as well as Chair of German Linguistics at the University of Erfurt. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and President of the Central European Germanist Association ( MGV ).

Career

Csaba Foldes studied from 1976 to 1981 Germanic, Slavic and General Linguistics in Debrecen, Odessa, Moscow, Leipzig and at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He then worked as a lecturer at the Language Centre of the Technical University of Kecskemét and as a foreign language teacher at a pedagogical school. 1987 he obtained his PhD at the University of Jena.

Between 1985 and 1996, he worked as a research assistant, since 1993 as a university professor in the Department of German University of Teacher Education " Gyula Juhász " Szeged as well as a lecturer at the University of Szeged. 1887 Habilitation at the University of Debrecen. From 1996 to 2012, he was Professor of Linguistics at the Germanistic Pannonian University of Veszprém; now he has represented professorships in German linguistics and for German as a foreign language at universities in Germany and Austria. In addition to his professorship in Veszprém Csaba Foldes was also German professor at the J. Selye University in Komárno (Slovakia). 2008 he was appointed doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Since the winter semester 2012/2013 is Foldes Professor (W3 ) for Germanic Linguistics in Erfurt. In 2013 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Anatoly - Omeltchenko Theatre Academy in Volgograd.

Other functions and memberships

Member of the " Scientific Council " of the Institute for German Language (IDS ) in Mannheim, Executive and Advisory Board Member ( 1998-2006), vice president (2006-2010) of EUROPHRAS: European Society of Phraseology, member of the scientific advisory board of the Society for Intercultural German (GIG ), a member of the International Association for German Studies ( IVG), a member of the Austrian Society for German Studies ( ÖGG ), member of the New York Academy of Sciences.

Founder and director of the Competence Center Intercultural Linguistics / German and in this part of the " International Research and junior Network for Intercultural German Studies " at the Pannonian University of Veszprém, publisher among others the Journal of Central European German ( ZMG ), the number of posts on Intercultural German Studies ( BIG), the number of texts and cultures of Studia Universitatis Germanica Vesprimiensis.
