ÄŒSD Class EMU 89.0

As ČSD series EMU 89.0 (since 1988: Series 420.95 ) designated the former Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD electric narrow-gauge railcars, which were procured for the location in the High Tatra Tatra Electric Railway.

History

In the years 1964-1969 Tatra electric railway a comprehensive modernization was subjected to suit the demands of the growing tourist traffic. In addition to the renewal of tracks and equipment and new vehicles were purchased.

The famous tram manufacturer CKD Tatra in Prague developed an eight-axle articulated railcar for the Tatra Electric Railway. The construction and design of the 1963 presented prototype was derived from the then current tram types T2 and T3 substantially. 1968/1969 the 17 Series vehicles were delivered.

The new railcars proven and ousted the old trains from engines and sidecar completely out of the scheduled service.

The 17 series vehicles were still in 1993 the Slovak ZSR. With the commissioning of the series 425.95, the vehicles were retired and scrapped in 2000.
