Csokvaomány

Csokvaomány is a town in Borsod -Abaúj -Zemplén.

History

The history of the village Csokvaomány, which was actually emerged from two villages Omány and Csokva first documented around 1221. In 1943, officially joined forces, but actually combines until 1949. The settlers were probably Czechs, but it may also have been among them German.

Certain evidence from the charter of 1221 points to the manners and customs of Czech settlers, the term Omány has Czech roots. The Slavic name Pohorka is common in the area of Csokva, however, the field indicates German population. Between the settlers and the Magyars came soon to weddings, the occupations of the first centuries consisted only of agricultural and forestry activities, this included, inter alia, use of soil, Viehhütung during grazing, mowing the meadows and forest clearings.

Beginning of the 14th century Csokva was later performed in church of the Abbey of Bélháromkút, by the pen of Eger. Omány in turn led secular of a wealthy squire and his family, they had at times even as the town of Nekézseny. The family named themselves after the name of the place Omány.

Middle of the 16th century under the Ottoman Beys took marauders from the city Fülek an arson on Omány, while the village was burned down. In the two villages Csokva and Omány end of the 16th century there were only a few dozen houses.

After 1711, the total population grew rapidly on, The census of 1787 showed Csokva owns 40 houses and 302 inhabitants and 33 houses and 269 people Omány were counted. The Church of Csokvaomány originated in 1735, the first school in the year 1806.

A veritable boom between 1945-1989 Csokvaomány experienced by the mining industry, which was placed in the surrounding areas. Location and climate

Geographically, Csokvaomány located in northern Hungary, the county seat Miskolc is located 50 km east to find Ózd 20 km northwest.
