The Hawaii - bristle tooth doctor fish ( Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis ) lives throughout the central Pacific in Hawaii, the Mariana Islands, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Samoa, the Marquesas, the Society Islands to the coast of Australia and Pitcairn.

He lives there on deep outer reefs with strong coral growth to a depth of 40 meters.

It is rare and lives as loners or in small groups. Juveniles have up to a length of five centimeters a blue- eyed orange, net-like drawing. Adult animals get a yellow-brown striped pattern.
