Cuba is a place in Sandoval County in the U.S. state of New Mexico in the United States with 590 inhabitants (as of 2000).

Geography

The place is located on the Jemez Mountain Trail, which leads through the village, in the north of the county in the central northwestern New Mexico and has a total area of 3.3 km ² without significant water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 590 people in 222 households and 152 families. The population density was 179.7 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 44.07 % White, 0.17 % African American, 26.78 % Native American, 0.68 % Asian, and other groups.

Of the 222 households out of which 38.30 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 43.70 % were married couples living together, 18.90 % had a female householder with no husband, and 31.10 % were non-families, 29.30 % of all households are made up and in 8.10% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.24 persons.

In relation to the entire town the population was spread out with 33.20 % under the age of 18, 7.80 % from 18 to 24, 23.90 % from 25 to 44 years, 21.90 % between 45 and 64 years and 13.20% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were statistically 95 men.

The median income for a household was $ 21,538, and the median income for a family was $ 26,250. Males had a median income of $ 26,667, women $ 17,000. The per capita income was $ 11,192. 36.50 % of families and 41.30 % of the population were below the poverty line.
