Cuco Valoy

Cuco Valoy (* 1937 in Santo Domingo ) is a Dominican singer alias El Brujo.

Life

In his childhood Valoy attended the National Conservatory. Then he studied music. The late 1950s, began his career with the group Los Ahijados and his brother Martin. They could be from Son Cubano insperieren. During the sixties he founded the radio station Radio Tropical Tropical and the label with which he was able to support Dominican musicians. In 1975, Cuco Valoy the orchestra Los Virtuosos (or La Tribu ) consisting of 12 musicians, among others, had in their repertoire salsa and Merenguestücke. Two of his sons played there, especially with his son Ramón Orlando, who ran it from 1980. Los Virtuosos recorded a series of albums for the label discolor and Kubaney.

The singer is also known in Colombia, where he won the Congo de Oro four times. Valoy wrote throughout his career to the 300 songs and brought out around 40 albums.
