Culture (band)

Culture is a Jamaican reggae band. The band was founded in 1976 by Joseph Hill. Originally the band was named African Disciples. The band members were or are:

• Joseph Hill ( lead singer ),
• Albert Walker ( backing vocals )
• Kenneth Dayes ( backing vocals ).

Shortly after the foundation they started with Joe Gibbs and Eroll Thompson, the "Mighty Two" together and released some singles and finally in 1977 their debut album " Two Sevens Clash ". Throughout her career, she worked among others with producer Sonia Pottinger and many famous musicians such as Robbie Shakespeare, Sly Dunbar, Ansel Collins, Cedric Brooks and the percussionist Sticky. In 1982 the band split up in order to realize different solo projects. In 1986, the members came together but again and published many more albums. The band was on many stages around the world and a presence at many festivals to be found around the globe. In August 2006, the frontman and band founder Joseph Hill suddenly and unexpectedly died on their European tour in Berlin. His part in the band has since been taken over by his son Kenyatta Hill.
