Cursillo

Cursillos de Cristiandad is a movement of Spanish origin in the Roman Catholic Church.

Origin

It was created on Mallorca as part of the spiritual preparation for a pilgrimage to the grave of the apostle James, which was organized by the youth of Catholic Action during the Holy Year of Santiago de Compostela in 1948. The first Cursillo de Cristiandad took place from 7 to 10 January 1949 Sanctuary of Sant Honorat Monastery held on Mount Randa ( Mallorca).

Cursillo as a course of evangelization

Cursillo is Spanish for small course ( Cursillo de Cristiandad = small course of Christianity ). This faith course lasts three days. Organization

National ( Germany )

In every diocese there is a Cursillo Secretariat. Women or men clergy active offer themselves as contact and focal point for the Cursillo activities. Another important part of the structure of the staff teams are in the dioceses. They are the bearers and leaders of the Cursillo Movement of the Diocese, including the local bishop over, and represented the Cursillo in public. At the federal level, the Cursillo Association represents Germany ( CAD), the Cursillo Movement. The Cursillo was introduced in Austria by the Spanish Claretian Father Joseph García- Cascales, in the Archdiocese of Vienna the first German-speaking Cursillo offered at Pentecost 1960. Since then, in Austria, around 100,000 people have attended a Cursillo.

The Cursillo movement is basically the same in Austria organized as described for Germany. The national coordinating and governing body is the ADC ( = Association of Diocesan Secretariats of the Cursillo movement).   • OMCC Organismo Mundial de Cursillo Cristiandad (World Organisation of the Cursillo movement). The seat rotates every four years in another continental group. This Continental Group selects its ranks from the National Secretariat, in which the seat of the OMCC should be, currently (2014-2017), it is Portugal.
