Cutty Cutshall

Cutty Cutshall ' ( born December 29, 1911 in Huntington, Pennsylvania, as Robert Dewee Cutshall; † August 16, 1968 in Toronto ) was an American jazz trombonist.

Cutshall began his career as a musician in Pittsburgh, where in 1934 he participated in a dance band tour with Charley Dornberger. In 1938 he became a member in January Savitts orchestra; then he played early 40s Benny Goodman and after his military service again in 1946. At the end of the decade he worked with Billy Butterfield Jazz Club in New Yorker Nick's and as a freelance musician in New York City. 1949 started his collaboration with Eddie Condon, which was to last of ten years; He also played at this time still with Max Kaminsky, and Peanuts Hucko and went from 1963 to 1966 on the Colorado Jazz Party on. He was also a member of the formation Nine Greats of Jazz, and later it The World's Greatest Jazz Band was born. Cutshall last toured in 1968 with Condon yet; he died here in a hotel room in Toronto, Canada.

Cutty Cutshall also worked throughout his career to recordings of Bob Crosby, Jimmy McPartland, Jimmy Dorsey, Yank Lawson / Bob Haggart and Wild Bill Davison; He is heavily influenced by Jack Teagarden.
