CXFS

CXFS is a clustered file system from SGI, based on SGI's XFS file system. It allows the simultaneous and conflict-free access of several computers on the same file system.

One big difference between CXFS and other distributed file system is that the data are stored independently of the metadata. This is implemented by a client-server model in which the system for the management of metadata representative of the server, and other computers act as clients. It is also the lock on the file called file locks, managed by the metadata server.

The metadata server is running under IRIX or Linux on the Origin and Altix SGI systems. When clients come next IRIX and other Unix-like operating system Mac OS X and Windows in question.
