Cyril Cartwright

Cyril Cartwright ( born January 28, 1928 in Dukinfield, Cheshire ) is a former English racing cyclist.

Cyril Cartwright was a miner by profession, cycling, he played as an amateur. In 1948, he was national champion in the time trial over 25 miles and was one of the first driver, who remained here at 59 minutes and 18 seconds under an hour. In addition, he set national records over five and 30 miles.

In the UCI Track World Championships 1949 in Ordrup at Copenhagen, he became vice - world champion in the individual pursuit. The following year, at the British Empire Games in 1950 Auckland, New Zealand, he won the gold medal in this discipline.

In 1951, Cartwright was unable to repeat his previous performance. When he was not nominated for the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, he ended his cycling career.
