The mountain Blasenfarn ( Cystopteris montana ) is a Central European scattered at higher elevations, especially the Alps, occurring representatives of Wimperfarngewächse ( Woodsiaceae ).

Features

The mountain Blasenfarn reaches stature heights of 15 to 45 cm. He has a long, creeping rhizome, the fronds are therefore removed from each other. The fronds are pinnate twice to four times their leaf blade is shorter than the petiole. In outline is triangular to ovate. The rachis is covered with fine glands. The veil ( indusium ) is almost bald. The chaff scales are occupied on the edge with glands. The spores mature in July and August.

Dissemination

The mountain Blasenfarn occurs in Baden- Württemberg and Bavaria, throughout Austria with the exception of Vienna and Burgenland, and Switzerland. On the Swabian Alb it is rare in the Alps he is absent-minded. It grows on moist, shaded limestone rock and limestone scree in mountain forests. It occurs in montane to subalpine altitudinal zone and from this height has spread its name.

He is a Assoziationscharakterart of Cystopteridetum montanae ( Petasition paradoxi ) and also comes in - Asplenio Piceetum before ( Piceion abietis ).
