Cystopteris

Fragile Blasenfarn ( Cystopteris fragilis )

The bladder ferns ( Cystopteris ) are a fern genus from the family of Wimperfarngewächse ( Woodsiaceae ).

Features

The bladder ferns are perennials and have a blackish rhizome. Sterile and fertile fronds are designed the same: they are pinnate, tender and have a fragile rachis. Its length is up to 30 inches, but usually they are shorter. The fronds die off in the winter. At the base of the petiole there are two vascular bundles. The leaf veins end freely.

The sori are round and are available individually from the sheet edge. The veil ( indusium ) is oval and is laterally attached to the sorus. He vaulted over the sorus vesicular, is tender and finally repulsed.
