D. A. Pennebaker

Donn Alan " D. A. " Pennebaker ( born July 15, 1925 in Evanston, Illinois) is an American documentary filmmaker and one of the pioneers of Direct Cinema. Action art (especially pop music ) and politicians are his favorite subjects. His style is often characterized by the use of a handheld camera.

In the early 1960s, founded Pennebaker ( Friends "penny" referred to ), along with Richard Leacock and Robert Drew, the production company Drew Associates. In 1963, Leacock and Pennebaker left it again to start her own production company. Later, he often collaborated with his wife, Chris Hegedus. Your company Pennebaker Hegedus Films has produced a number of influential documentaries.
