Daf Yomi

Daf Jomi (Hebrew דף היומי, daily page, leaf of the day) is a daily program of study of the Talmud, in which the 2711 pages of the Babylonian Talmud are learned continuously.

The study program was introduced by Jude Mair Schapira.

Shapira led this study program in 1923 and brought the idea of Daf haJomi at the first World Congress of the World Agudath Israel in Vienna before August 16, 1923. The first cycle of the Daf Yomi began on the first day of Rosh Hashanah 5684 (September 11, 1923).
