Dahan Creek

The Dahan (Chinese大汉 溪Dàhànxī, Taiwanese Tai Han khe ) is a 135 km long river in northern Taiwan.

History and significance

The Dahan rises on the northern slope of Mount Pintian district Xinzhu and crosses the Taoyuan County and the city of New Taipei City, after which he joined in the territory of the city of Taipei with the Xindian to the Tamsui River. In Taoyuan County, he is dammed to Shimen Reservoir and plays an important role for irrigation and drinking water supply northern Taiwan. At the headwaters of the Dahan is the Ronghua Dam, whose main purpose is to prevent the entry of debris into the Shimen Reservoir.
