Daidzein (from jap daidzu outdated for daizu (大豆), " soybean " ) belongs to the group of natural isoflavones.
Isoflavones such as daidzein and genistein can be found in a number of plants, however, primarily in soybeans and soybean products such as tofu and soybean meats. Soy isoflavones are a group of compounds which are also found both within and isolated from soya beans.
There are several indications that daidzein, as well as other isoflavones ( genistein), the transcription of the enzyme catechol-O- methyltransferase ( COMT) shuts down normally degrades estradiol.
