Daily call sheet

The daily disposition - even disposition or only briefly MRP (English (daily ) call sheet ) - describes in film, television and commercial productions an overview created for each day of shooting with respect to the to be completed workload as well as specific information for individual members of the film crew. Throughout the day the MRP everyone present on the set serves as a 'roadmap' or clue what to do next.

The MRP is created from the first manager in accordance with the assistant director. Reason for this arrangement is on the one hand, the fact that the assistant director is responsible for the timely completion of the shooting, on the other it is a day on the set on site while the work of the First recording head mostly off playing it. Furthermore, the daily dispositions resulting from the rotation plan, which was usually drawn from the (first) Assistant Director in collaboration with the film production line.

In some production companies, mostly in daily or weekly series formats, there are whole scheduling departments in which to run the long - and short-term rotation plans quasi almost industrial. The regular, often taking place in the directly adjacent studio shooting, solid routines have formed and strong methodisiert creating the MRP.

Content and scope

Both for the content arrangement and the exact scope of a daily disposition there is no mandatory requirement. However, it has a kind of industry standard developed which is taken into account depending on your preference and experience of the receiving conductor and / or respected.

The length of the scheduling depends on the wealth of information, but always well-organized with the objective, concise, and not to be unnecessarily long. Typically, it comprises about two to four A4 sheets.

Essential information

The daily disposition must include some basic information in order to fulfill its purpose. This should be apparent already on the first page:

Generally

  • The location / The locations ( in the form of motifs, as well as the real address )
  • The schedule ( start of work of all team members, shooting begins and the end of shooting )
  • The workload ( a list of all abzudrehenden scenes or sub-images )

The following points may seem obvious, but should not be disregarded:

  • The current date
  • The project name, address and contact details of the production company
  • Contact details of the production representative on the set (usually the Setaufnahmeleiter )

Specific production

After the above information can be found on the following pages organizational information:

  • Position information on location ( parking availability, connections for electricity and water supply, places for the cast and crew members, toilets, as well as catering )
  • Delivery and pick-up times for additional equipment (eg lifts )
  • Arrival and departure dates by actors
  • Number of extras (incl. arrival )

Optional Information

The following points are not mandatory but can optimize the preparation and thus the workflow on set:

  • Number of people on the set (important for planning the meals and cost control )
  • General weather outlook ( risk of rain, cloudy or sunny, expected Tages-/Nachttemperatur )
  • Times of sunrise and sunset (or moonrise and moonset at night work)
  • Map of the film set with position information ( supra)
  • Directions ( general directions, emanating mostly from the production office or the location nearby reference point)
  • Often be found on the MRP also a brief Brief information for the next day's shooting, the so-called Vordispo. They usually appear at the end of the actual MRP and contains only approximate start and Endarbeitszeiten and the location, sometimes the scheduled scenes.

Meaning and purpose

The daily disposition is first a general source of information. You should ensure that all stakeholders of the film crew appear sufficiently prepared for the day of shooting and can communicate with each other locally. In addition, the MRP but still performs other tasks.

The MRP is considered one of the main " tools" of Setaufnahmeleiters ( Set- AL). With their help he can provide for the implementation of the timetable, which is one of his main tasks during the day of shooting. He can not only transport, purchase, discounts and returns as well as motif removals coordinate exactly, but also the timely cooperation of the entire team control to avoid possible bottlenecks in timing and prevent unwanted rotation breaks through the information from the daily disposition. This responsibility of the set- AL divided the rest with all the "Heads of Department" ( department heads ), eg for lighting, costume or outfit.

A created usually at the end of the shooting day daily report (to capture the real workload, for example, wacky scenes, consumption of footage, presence detection of the team, etc. ) is balanced and influenced with regard to the planned and geschaffte stint with the day -Disposition then, if necessary, in case of non fulfillment of the planned work the following day - dispositions and possibly the entire shooting schedule.

For many team members the MRP also serves as evidence of their presence on location for purposes of your own accounts or for example, claims against the production company ( or the company with which they are employed for the film project ) to be able to make and later the employment agency law.

Fate process

The daily scheduling for multi-day shooting is generally distributed on the previous business day to the film crew. From the production office, they go directly to Setaufnahmeleiter established (with the help of his assistants or Setrunner ) ensures its distribution. Many set SLs consider it important that this does not happen before the end of shooting, and that until then no one gets the MRP to face. The background to this is the fact that some changes be made to the rotary end result (eg shift of the early days due to the compliance of the rest period ).

Furthermore, the set- AL can determine with a simultaneous distribution to all, which team members and actors their MRP can not get personal because they either had a day off or have already left the set. Another aspect that is often neglected, is the simple fact that the daily disposition is a confidential document that is intended only for the parties involved in a film production. Therefore, delivery shall proceed, after the end of shooting for a more conscious handling.

For short rotation periods of only one or a very few days, it may happen that the MRP creates collected for several days. This has mostly organizational reasons, such as in small or low- budgeted film productions that do not have a fixed production office or appropriate staff who can provide ongoing creation of a disposable.

Sometimes it also happens that before the shooting one or even are several so called pre - dispos that informs the team about the hitherto known facts of the upcoming day of shooting. Most still follows on a regular MRP with all the info.

Special

Some manager have made it a habit to provide their days dispositions with a personal touch. This includes, for example, adding graphics or anecdotes. In some cases you will also find a " quote of the day ", a short poem, joke or similar Humorous it. These " extras " are usually appreciated by team members. However, only if the MRP is otherwise professionally and free of defects.
