Daily strip referred to in American newspapers a daily comic strip that appears in the Monday - through Saturday editions. Sunday will print a Sunday strip. The first daily strip appeared in 1903 (see also comic strip ).

Normally daily strips are black -and-white, although some newspapers in the late 20th century published in color. They appear mainly as " strips " ( stripes) - wider than tall - or " panels" ( panel surface ), they are higher than wide. Most of the strips are divided into several smaller panels, with the story of panel continues to panel.

Early daily strips were large and often went over the entire width of the newspaper; sometimes they were several inches high. Initially, only one per newspaper daily strip was printed, either at the top or bottom of the page. In the 20s many newspapers already had a whole comic page were compiled on the various comic strips. Over time, the daily strips became smaller and smaller, until the beginning of the 21st century four normal daily strips only occupied the space that was originally required by a single strip.

In the comic Star Hawks was briefly experimented with a double-breasted daily strip, but they returned after a few years back to the classic single-row form.

Many webcomics depend on the structure of the daily strips.
